Hey, comic book world. These are the books I'm super excited for this week. We probably have different opinions, which is why this is the perfect opportunity for you to cruise it on over to the comments and strike up a healthy discussion about this week's most exciting books!

By Grant Morrison & Chris Burnham | DC
After the tragic events of last month, we saw a whole slew of Requiem issues that explored the various ways in which Bruce Wayne grieves the death of Damian. Straight from the horse’s mouth, however, Grant Morrison told me that Batman wouldn’t be spending all that much time sobbing in Batman Incorporated.
While I certainly think Bruce has earned some allowance for tears, I’m pretty excited to see an intently focused Dark Knight gunning for Leviathan harder than he ever as. With Morrison’s Batman run winding down, things are more than likely headed straight for crazy town.
By Brian Bendis & Bryan Hitch | Marvel
Amazingly, the third issue of Marvel’s big event is already hitting shelves this week. While Age of Ultron #2 wasn’t quite as engaging as the debut, this is still the strongest start for a Marvel event in quite some time. I love the more light-hearted approach of books like Hawkeye and Captain Marvel that Marvel has been toying with lately, but the grim and dank future of Age of Ultron is nothing if not appealing.
Raising the stakes for our favorite characters only strengthens them that much more once they inevitably come out the other side of their latest trauma, and very few people can raise the stakes like Bendis.
By Brian Bendis & Steve McNiven | Marvel
I love, love, love the #0.1 issue of the new Guardians of the Galaxy series (numbering aside), so I’m elated that the “real” debut chapter hits this week. In #0.1, Bendis showed off his knack for excellent – and economic – characterization while also explaining things in a digestible way for the newcomers.
Hopefully issue #1 can continue that trend, solidifying this comic as the go-to resource for fans excited for a Guardians movie but needing some background beforehand. All signs point to this book being one to watch. Plus, you know, Neil Gaiman is going to be co-writing soon. No big deal.
By Mark Waid & Daniel Indro | Dynamite
Whether you’re a massive Green Hornet fan or you only know the character exists because Seth Rogan played him in a movie, Dynamite’s latest Green Hornet series is worth a look. Why? Mark freaking Waid. Though Waid’s been doing great comics for decades, his recent outpouring of fantastic work on Daredevil, The Rocketeer, Hulk, and his various digital projects is nothing short of astounding.
With Waid’s Silver Age aesthetic and deep knowledge of the medium, I think we can all rest assured that he’ll do right by Green Hornet fans. And for the newbies, chances are good that you’ll be a Green Hornet fan after this one.
By Jonathan Hickman & Nick Dragotta | Image
It seems like any given week, there’s a new comic coming from Image where it’s not so much the plot I’m interested in as much as it is the creators. This week, it’s East of West by Hickman and Dragotta. Luckily, the plot seems to be right up my alley too.
This is a new ongoing sci-fi series from the team that killed it on FF, so I’m not sure if plot details are really all that important, but here goes. This is a “sci-fi western” in a future America where our last, best hope is apparently the Four Horsemen-- not the legendary wrestling faction, but as in, “of the apocalypse.” That being said, it appears their one mission is to kill the President. Because that sounds like a pretty optimistic last, best hope to me.
