Here's the trailer for Sam Mendes' next project: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
It's not another film version but an all-new stage adaptation of the beloved children's book by Roald Dahl, coming to London later this year.
Douglas Hodge – four time Olivier-nominated actor/director – will star as the eccentric confectioner Willy Wonka, with Nigel Planer as Grandpa Joe and Clive Carter as Mr Salt. The show is set to feature "ingenious stagecraft" and music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (who won a Grammy for their work on Hairspray).
The show will run at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London. Opening night is June 25th, 2013, with the initial run taking bookings until November 30th, 2013.
