Teased for the first time nearly a year ago in DC's Free Comic Book Day 2012 special, the curtain has finally been pulled back on Trinity War. A six-part crossover event that will be spread out between the three Justice League titles -- Justice League, Justice League of America, and Justice League Dark -- the story will be co-written by Geoff Johns and Jeff Lemire and run throughout July and August.
The story kicks off in Justice League #22, and aims to bring together all corners of the DC Universe, particularly ones that haven't interacted yet.
"It's going to be really interesting when these characters do come together, because some of them haven't met, some of them have, and what happens and unfolds in this is going to force them to choose sides," Johns told USA Today.

Johns also told the paper that he considers Trinity War an "action mystery," and that the series would revolve around -- as we predicted in our analyzation of that FCBD issue -- the Trinity of Sin: Pandora, Phantom Stranger, and the Question. Specifically, Pandora's box, which we've seen make a few appearances since the launch of the New 52. "She's an enigma, completely. In a lot of ways, she's been a pawn for most of her existence. She was tricked into using the box and she's being tricked into doing something now, in a way. The Justice League, that becomes another part of it."
Of course, superhero stories tend to build on each other, so even though Trinity War has been building for the past two years, there's something even bigger on the horizon."Something really, really major happens that kicks off some pretty crazy stuff at the end of August."
