Rdio Takes on Streaming Movies and TV with Vdio

After years of tinkering, popular music streaming service Rdio has finally released its venture into video, the appropriately named Vdio. Rdio Premium subscribers already have access to the video on demand platform, with a complimentary $25 to purchase TV episodes and movies.

Unlike its sister platform, Vdio isn't a subscription service — users will be able to select shows for purchase, similar to iTunes and Amazon VOD's model, with TV shows on the platform the day after air and a discounted season pass model. But, the big standout feature of the system is Vdio's inclusion of "sets," a curated list of TV shows and movies that can be assembled and shared by nearly anyone in a variation of the classic musical playlist.

Interested in trying out the service for yourself, but you're not an Rdio member? Users who join in the next 60 days will also get access and the $25 certificate. But, the platform is currently only available for iPad and on the web, so giddy members anxious to set up a console or Roku box will have to wait for later.

What do you think of Vdio? Let us know in the comments.
