MLB 2K13 Perfect Game Challenge Off to Strong Start

The first week of Major League Baseball 2K13’s Perfect Game Challenge has seen 300,000 gamers’ attempts at a chance for a $25,000 cash prize. Of those attempts, 892 have been verified as “perfect” games, pitched by 617 unique players.

This year, there are 30 lots of $25,000 to be won. The competition encourages gamers to pitch a perfect game according to specific settings and requirements, as listed on the 2K Games website. A “perfect game” is defined by one in which no opposing batters reach base; the entrant finishes the game with his original starting pitcher; and the entrant’s team wins the game.

Last year’s finalists have dominated the first week of the challenge, with 2012 runner-up Charlie Bates currently topping the leaderboard.

The Washington Nationals, with 100 perfect games to their name (no doubt led by team ace Stephen Strasburg), have the highest number so far. MLB 2K13 cover star David Price is the leading individual athlete, with 73 perfect games to the Rays pitcher's name.

The challenge is open to MLB 2K13 players in the United States on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms. The competition finishes on April 30. More details are available at the Perfect Game Challenge’s Facebook page.
